I think it was actually written by Russ Ballard. Kiss themselves also covered his 'God Gave Rock 'n' Roll To You' many years later.
'New York Groove' was a UK top twenty hit for Hello back in the mid-seventies. They made a few Top Of The Pops appearances but were most successful in Germany for some reason...
I know Russ wrote the song. Kiss never covered it, but it was on Ace's solo album, the one when they all released solo albums at the same time.
Yes, Hello's career was longer in Germany because glam didn't die out as soon as it did elsewhere.

Yes, that was the only one of the 4 solo singles I couldn't get with the picture sleeve and mask. I tried for ages with no luck. My local Woolworth's was pretty crap though.
I remember that the Gene mask used to terrify my cat - and my copy of the Paul single was mispressed with the wrong b-side.
